| Live | A working number, confirmed against live carrier data. |
| Dead | The line is no longer in service. Review the record. |
| Unknown | Exists, but not reachable right now - a handset off, or a landline with no live check. |
| Impossible | Not a valid UK number - too short, or a range that was never allocated. |
We also tell you how old the answer is. "Live, checked just now" is a stronger fact than a tick with no date - and it is the part most checkers hide.
